"Family is not an important thing. It's everything."

Family-Based Immigration

The family-based immigration process generally begins with the United States citizen or lawful permanent resident (i.e. green card holder) making a request to the United States government to allow a family member to immigrate. The two groups of family based immigrant visa categories include immediate relatives and family preference categories, both provided under the provisions of United States immigration law, specifically the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA).
